A core intention in my work is to facilitate people in removing the barriers to embodiment and opening access to the fullness of their autonomy and agency in their own body.

From this opening we can act in alignment with our inner knowing and being.

We learn what it means to take up and share space.

There is an honoring of the body’s natural intelligence and movement towards healing of the systems within and around us.

Embodiment Coaching

More about UZAZU:

UZAZU brings awareness to bottom-up and top-down processing of energy and information while acknowledging the additional dynamic flow of energy and information between bodies and our environment.

When we bring awareness to urges and habituated postures and movement, we can work with resourced postures, new movement patterns, sounds, belief statements, images, elemental qualities, spatial proximity, and breath to shape our embodied attention.

We utilize the stimulus of specific contexts, notice how these activate certain states or responses in us, and process the resulting effect on how we dynamically orient and interact to ourselves and others. We may then work towards resourcing using modes that have more accessible balance, rebalancing a polarization, or metabolizing material that is creating the resistance to the pattern shift. This creates a larger adaptive range of responses, enhances organization of the system, improves functional capacity to engage with stimulus, and offers more choice in how we engage with specific situations.

Work with me typically begins with doing an assessment that explores your movement and relational patterns. Depending on where you are at and the intentions you have for our work, we may transition to enhancing interoception and working to befriend your nervous system. I then utilize practices from somatic movement therapies, internal family systems and UZAZU to address the specific intentions you have for what brings you to the sessions. I have found that the collaborative interplay between these modalities offers a rich opportunity to approach patterns with compassion, respect and creates notable changes in how you relate to yourself and others.

My approach to embodiment work is relational, systems oriented, and centers your body as the guide for the direction the sessions will take us.

If you schedule an assessment session and it feels like a good fit, I typically recommend doing a 3-4 session series to work on a specific pattern, situation, or relational context. You may choose to come back to work on other areas or return to the same area for more exploration, but it is helpful to have space in between the series blocks to integrate and practice what you have gained from the sessions. The frequency of our sessions and the length of the sessions may shift depending on your needs. My sessions are virtual and offered internationally – unless you are in the Ellsworth, Maine area and we may sometimes choose to meet in person.

Rates: $75 for 60 minutes and $105 for 90 minutes

*Please note that while my psychotherapy experience informs my embodiment coaching, our sessions are not meant to be psychotherapy, trauma or severe mental health treatment, and I do not utilize EMDR or therapy specific practices within this work.
